Head on bike crash video

This happened to a guy I know from Mulholland Hwy. He's out there riding every single weekend. He came around a blind corner and got clipped by the bike of another rider who went down and crossed lanes. He is not critically injured - I haven't talked to him but he's posting updates on Youtube and Facebook.

Damn, it doesn't look like it was that bad though. You can see him sliding on his back so he didnt tumble or anything. Could have been A LOT worse but he was wearing gear so looks like he should be ok.

I found some pics of the aftermath - the bike was shredded, obviously. His helmet had a lot of deep scars but it stayed intact and did its job. The rider went to the hospital but is home now recovering. They had a neck brace on him in the ambulance but it sounds like that it was just a precaution.

The other rider, the one who caused the wreck, walked away. He was only wearing a sweatshirt and jeans. He's lucky he didn't get clipped by a car or another bike.

That oncoming rider had more balls than brains. He should think twice before dragging knee on a public road, especially without gear on.

^^^

he was doing 42 mph at impact and went into the corner at 50. No one was passing. Not racing. Just unfortunate lowside at the wrong place.

Really sucks for your pal though. Glad he'll recover soon.

holy shit my asshole clenched up when i saw the other rider lowsiding...and he BARELY missed the first guy too, if he clipped that guy it'd been 3 riders down...

doesn't look too bad, as long as you don't hit a wall or high side and land on a rock you should be able to walk away...

This, if you wear proper gear you escape a lot of nasty accidents. Hell you can escape accidents that would kill people in cars.

On the flip side ANY accident will result in you feeling it on some level, no matter how minor.

Too much bike lean for the street... Dumb. I'll fuck around in car but when it's metal surrounding man VS man surrounding metal, I'll reign in my need for speed.
