I'm trying to like Top Gear US, I really am but it's tough to watch. No chemistry between the hosts.
I have been watching Adam Carolla's 'The Car Show' and I think it does a better job as the US version of TG.

American Top Gear is HORRIBLE. So scripted, So predictable...last night it was a race between an off-road vehicle and a hover craft type thing, and some how the race was close leading into a final show down...really? The show is so bad, it's not even fun to watch.
Makes me SICK to my stomach. Scrap the team, scrap the writers and start over...the show needs to be a little more like Entourage. |

I was really hoping I'd see more US landmarks, great driving roads, a bit of culture.. Part of what makes TGUK so good is it's partially a travel show in some ways.. or a driving enthusiast's take on travel, for many segments. There are plenty of great places in the US I'd love to see highlighted. It's too bad we don't get more of that through the season.

And you think the odd races they have on TGUK aren't fixed/staged/dramatized in one way or another every once in a while?

I actually thought the show had some promise towards the end of last season, but this summer series has been very weak. I do agree that early episodes of the original program were lacking the camaraderie that we seem to expect these guys to develop overnight, so I'll continue to give it a chance. I wish them luck

because we are car guys and i think we will watch regardless. we are such a small segment of the population though. the great thing about the UK show is that even people that aren't into cars watch it. it's just flat out entertaining. i think top gear USA sucks but i'll continue watching and complaining because i love cars
