Lightbulb Posting pictures / size requirements

I was just wondering (did and search and couldn't find) if there is a size requirement for posting pics? Most boards I go to have a 640x480 so as to not disrupt the normal appearance of the page. Just think it might be a good idea here since some of the pics being posted are so large you have to scroll side to side to read posts.

I don't think there have been any rules implemented thus far regarding this. However it is a good idea to not have giant photos placed in the posts themselves.

This is a great opportunity for everybody to use the new and free web space that the forum is providing. You can upload the images you'd like to share through FTP to your E90Post web space then provide links to the images in the post. If you're nice you could provide thumbnails too maybe.

Didn't realize the board provided space, that really is nice. I use hosting services like photobucket and rcpics and they limit the size anyway to 640x480 less than 250K. The other boards I frequent (non-automotive or BMW) don't allow space to non-contributing members but limit the size just to keep a nice smooth flow for viewing the board.

E90Post is not like other boards

We're revolutionizing what a BMW message board can be! We've got the others running scared! Consider the bench marked! We're...

Okay that's enough. I'm just kidding

Hi guys. I'm just wondering about how I would go about putting the picture under your usernames on the left column. I tried but it seems to not attach.

Actually, I was trying to put a custom avatar. It wouldn't let me. After I click 'save changes' it would do it.

Well, I'm trying to use a custom avatar also, and can't. I downloaded one of the "stock" avatars so I can see the size, and I sized mine exactly the same. Every time I save, it reverts back to the original stock one I picked.

Too big file? It should be under 9.8 kb.
BTW, what is the difference between custom avatar and custom profile picture?

Profile picture is a picture that's displayed when someone clicks to view your "Profile". It can be larger than the custom avatar. The avatar is the 100x100 max picture that will be displayed under your name in every one of your posts.

When you're posting a message, click on "manage attachments" and you can then upload photos from your hard drive, or, if the photo is already on the internet somewhere, you can use the [img]type image address here [/img] tags to post it (or just lick on the little mountain icon you see above the message editor).

I'd suggest placing limits on the vertical size of pictures in the signature. Some posters have pictures that take up half my screen, and add no real value. I feel like I'm being shouted at.

If I could turn off huge pictures in the signatures and still see the words, that would be perfect. Scroll up this thread and you'll see an example.
