the only reason i prefer wireless is because it would be near impossible to hide speaker wires in the house.....

Are you looking for the entire house or for sound in one room? I recently bought a Bose setup for the TV, and it sounds great.

Try SONOS.... I guess it all depends how much you want to spend. Knowing you, you are looking for something good but cheap

I know JBL makes a wireless subwoofer. I have the wired subwoofer of theirs and it is great. I have it paired with a couple of Klipsch floor-standing speakers and powered by an Onkyo receiver. You can always use Apple's Airplay to wirelessly control your music throughout your home too, which is really nice.

I bought a 5.1 system from Aperion Audio out of Portland, Oregon, and their stuff is top notch and great value for the $. They get excellent reviews, and their business model is great... if you buy the speakers, try them for 30 days, and don't like them, send them back, and they pay the return shipping. Truly a no risk.

I'm not affiliated with them in any way, other than being a happy customer.

And they have a wireless system that I suspect is great quality (all of their stuff is great quality).

Aperion is a US company based out of Portland, OR. Our speakers are made in China. Everything else - design and engineering, sales, service, marketing, management - is done right here in Portland. Our manufacturing facility is ISO9000 certified, which is compliant with WTO and UN trade practices. All speakers are made by hand, and fully inspected before they go in the box and ship out to you. - from website
