Gotham Dream Car Tour!
Present from wifey, just had it yesterday! Best part is she was my passenger... and I got a t-shirt Finally I got to test drive one of my next cars http://www.gothamdreamcars.com/dream-car-tour.htm Quote:
Overview: Started off around 3:30PM and didn't finish up till almost 7PM, so a solid 3+ hours of driving. We pulled up to Gotham and their garage, I believe it's one of a couple so they only had the cars there that we would be driving. The trip is a good 100 miles with 6 cars. Too bad the SLS wasn't in the lineup and the manager told me it just doesn't rent so they sold it. They had 2 SLRs but one was sold and the other was crashed The Legends car tour with the McLaren MP4xx and the 599 was a few weeks ago, that would have been interesting too... timing didn't work out, but the line up I had was amazing! However, before taking off they had lunch and coffee, and went through a briefing of what to do and what not to do, then gave everyone a breakdown of how the cars operate. Below is the list of cars we had to choose from with designated legs where we would switch cars. They had a lead car (some ford) and a tail car which was one of the cars that no one was assigned to for that leg of the drive. I've driven an M5 so I had no desire to drive the M6, when it was my turn for the M6 the tail driver was kind enough to let me take the Ferrari F430 again... Below is a list of the cars we had to choose from: The Experience: I must say the experience was AMAZING!!! I could do this everyday. If you haven't driven cars like these, DO IT! They are like nothing i've ever driven and i'm so glad to say that I have experienced this, worth every damn penny. OMG the sounds these things make. My fiancee who likes BMWs and hasn't experienced these was in awe by the sounds of these monsters and she also now has a new appreciation for these machines. We both had an amazing time and enjoyed every minute of it... Except for the Bentley .. i'll get to that. I'm truly jealous of people who get to drive these everyday, I had a smile from ear to ear the whole time... constant 3 hours of adrenaline! The sound, feeling, handling, responsiveness, etc is just on another planet. I've officially been given the green light by wifey to buy one of these (someday). So hopefully in the next 5-10 years i'll have one in my garage. I'm very glad she got to enjoy this with me and see the reason for my car obsession. It's basically a driving orgasm lol. My Avg Joe review of the cars and ranking: 1. Ferrari F430 The sound, almost nothing compares to it. The steering, feel, and responsiveness was the best. None of the other cars felt like this did. I felt like I was most connected to the road and that stock exhaust screamed like it was getting beat and loved it. Sounded amazing at almost any rev range. Gobs of power and I truly understand why people flock to a Ferrari. I thought the interior was OK, it was pretty comfortable and just a complete joy to drive. It's gorgeous and it really felt like there was a stallion stuck in trunk and wanted to get out. However it did shake like crazy, but that's probably from the high mileage and beatings it's taken through the years. Still was just a fking blast! Glad I got to drive it twice. 2. Lambo Murcielago LP640 (2008) LOL + crazy - Pretty much describes this car. It's just ridiculous. It's impractical, can't see anything, lowest to the ground, so-so interior, etc... but it gets #2 because it was just laughable fun. Looks like satan on the road, screamed louder than the Ferrari and was just insane. Very close to getting #1 because it's just indescribable. It's something you have to drive to understand. Connection with the road was insane, and the Carbon Ceramic Brakes were CRAZY. Stop on a dime, def worth the money if you can afford them. They make the other car's brakes feel like butter. They did have straight pipes on the Murci and it was so loud we couldn't stop laughing. The downshift from 4 to 3 at highway speeds sounded like a nuclear bomb went off in the back. You could hear this thing from a mile away. It was also wifey's favorite because of how insane it was. I didn't want to get out of it. Even the other drivers noticed how much fun I was having and were loling at my lambogasm. 3. Lambo Gallardo LP560 (2010) Definitely a HUGE change from the previous generation. The best interior, best quality build, just stunning. Very quiet unless you open it up above 4K. It had the corsa setting which changed all of that and made it louder but was surprisingly refined compared to the Ferrari. It drove smoother, felt like an everyday car, it was actually quite a bit less connected as the 430 which was surprising. Car won me over with it's transmission and refinement. It's definitely the best all around car and something to DD very easily. Only thing it needed was new pipes, should have been much louder and the Fcar really killed the Lambo in the sound department.... under 4k 4. Lambo Gallardo (2006) Still huge bang for the buck if you were to pick one up now. The transmission is completely different than the new model, not as smooth however it still felt a bit more connected than the LP560. Hard to explain. It was pretty raw, def dated interior, still a blast to drive. At 500hp it had plenty of grunt and was a screamer. Not sure if it had pipes on it, but it was pretty loud too. Comparing the spyder to hard top. SPYDER all the way. The sound and experience in the open top is 100x better than in the coupe. Felt very enclosed and took away from enjoying the car, had that feeling of sitting in a tank with slits for windows. If I got one, it would have to be a spyder. I could barely tell a difference in the power of the updated and older model. They both took off like crazy. 5. M6 - thought I didn't drive it, it's a great car but no Lambo/Fcar 6. The Bentley Continental Where to begin, it's HUGE, heavy, soso interior, huge, heavy, quiet, handles like a pontoon boat and has lots of power. Kind of like strapping a 1000hp to the back of a pontoon boat on a lake. Have fun going forward, but try to turn and watch out. Granted it can go toe to toe with some of the other cars with it's 550hp, but who cares. It was beyond boring. I hated it, so did my wife. She got out of it thinking "that's what a Bentley is like?" We were both pretty appalled and turned off by it. Couldn't wait to hand over the keys. Also for $200K+ the quality just wasn't there. I didn't see where it was any better than a $100K BMW 750i. I'd gladly take a benz or BMW over it. I can appreciate what it's meant for and it's a completely different car than an Fcar or Lambo, but I just don't see the appeal other than saying "hey I have a bentley". Just not for me. That about does it. It was money well spent and just an incredible experience. I hope you get to enjoy it someday if you haven't, open your check book and just DO it. Best part about the experience was doing it with my wife who knows about my obsession but completely understands it now and my passion for cars. Below are some pictures from they day, a couple people on the trip were pretty cool and will be sending me their pictures soon. Also the site should be loading more from the day, they took some great professional photos along the way. Got a tshirt and a supercar video and that was the day. Just to add, the GoPro2 was awesome, may it RIP. As I killed it before I got home with a bottle of water in the bag that was open. Just the best time ever with the best wife ever!

awesome - i've been playing with my GPH2 since i got it on Father's Day.
it's a pretty nice little camera - i think i'm shooting at 720 and 30fps. sometimes when i take normal videos with it, i can tell that it's a bit rough/shaky. i'm at work so i can't see your GPH2 videos, but i'll check them out when i get home. you and your wife are freaking rockstars in every sense of the word..... |

Those were taken with the GoPro, all super wide angle. Really captures everything, just a little fish eye that's all.
