Let's just say I found Friday's CNBC interview particularly revealing, esp. since I've flown the Dreamliner on multiple trips and have a few round trips scheduled for early next year.

What they are saying is that when you design and build a brand new airplane there are always growing pains that crop up during the first few years of service. The 787 is the first clean sheet design Boeing has done since the KC-135/707 honestly. They built on that successful design to create the lines you know of today. Even then, when a new model was introduced they always had squawks.
It is testament to the robust designs and rigorous certification in modern aircraft that there have been as few true "issues" as we have seen. |
