It left my wife stranded when an ignition coil went a couple months ago. Fortunately a couple of people stopped and helped her push it off the road. It currently needs about $1500 worth of suspension work done. I am not sure if I want to sink any more money into it now that the hybrid system is out of warranty. Basically she doesn't think the car is reliable.

The real bummer is that she has stolen the M3 until we find another family hauler.

Or use hospitals . . .

Is it just bailouts that count or do subsidies do as well??

Actually decent to drive, unlike many cars in the segment. Just put another 650 miles on it this past weekend.
I will check out the CX-9. We drove the Acadia and it was ok. The sales guy did not have any Yukon Hybrids on the lot. He said they only sell 2 or 3 a year so no reason to have them sit in the lot. My wife wants an onboard nav, so with all the packages you have to buy it pushes the sticker above 50k which seems nuts.

I liked the new Pathfinder but it wasn't a blast to drive. It had a pretty nice interior and the size was about right.

List price on the CX-9 AWD Grand Touring is under $40k. We got ours (with rear seat DVD, tow package, roof rails) for a steal 4 years ago, when gas was $4/gal and no one was buying big SUVs - we paid just over $30k...

My wife gets around 17 mpg around town, and we get low 20s on highway trips.

Make sure to find some curves to try out during your test drive.

Comparison test from 2011: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...n/viewall.html

They just did an exterior refresh, too. No more goofy grin:

I know you said no minivans, but you owe it to yourself to just go and check out a Honda Odyssey. I was dead set against having anything to do with a minivan and until my sister got one (4 kids plus a nanny).
For the money, you won't get more room and the drive is no where near as bad as you think!
A good buddy of mine was dead set against a minivan too. He checked out the Odyssey vs. the new Durango and was really torn between the two because the Odyssey was that good. In the end he went with the Durango V6 Citadel because he said he wanted that "musclecar" like look. I told him the Odyssey is quicker than the Durango! He still thinks about the Odyssey with how much cheaper it was, better fuel mileage and WAY more room.

That being said, if you still want an SUV, check out the new Pilot.
