Note to the safety police this happened on a private racetrack somewhere in the US....

After playing a bit with a CLS500, out of nowhere comes a sweet looking and LOUD 50-something Vette convertible. Full race roll bars, loud pipes, custom paint, huge wheels/tires, you name it. It was so pretty I figured old guy, Garage Queen.

Next thing I know, he's baiting me. So, like the fish I am in safe private track conditions ...

He jumped immediately about 1 car length in front, roll-on at 70. Unfortunately, I had just filled my tank however he had a passenger so I can't complain too much about the extra weight. After the initial surge though (TQ monster V8 I suppose), I expected him to continue walking or even running away but instead I started inch-by-inch regaining my CL. When we shut it down i had recovered about 1/4th of his car, and flashed my lights. He gave me a thumbs up and off I went at the track exit.

Sorry, no more details, just a fun 15 seconds...I'm sure from a dig he would have destroyed me, but at speed I think drag, HP, and/or gearing stopped him.

Sounds like a cool "track", complete with on ramps and off ramps

Yeah, I like your description of your "private track." btw -- your quick 15 sec. or so of fun with the guy is what it's all about...as long as it's realatively safe and quick. Nice recovery on probably a very high HP/TQ classic car.
