Good thread, lets see everyones history.
Mine is interesting. I 1st had a 69 Camaro SS "replica", a true unrestored (54k original miles) 69 w a 350 that was cloned to have all SS markings and mods. The owner was an older gentleman who passed away leaving the car to his wife who never drove it. I found the ultimate classic car hunters dream. The pristine, garage queen at a great price. $6,500 got me this in 1997. I added one of the first custom retrofits of a Borg Warner T56 tranny into a gen1 camaro. Also added a custom suspension, dual racing seats w 5 point harnesses, interior updates, custom exhaust, digital fuel injection, crane cam, airflow research heads, edelbrock intake, blah blah blah. Car ran 117mph in the quarter when it was a 3 speed auto w stock tq converter and skinny rubber and was reliable as can be getting upper 20's mpg on the highway. I ended up running 10" wide AR Torq thrust II wheels an d 285 drag radials and still couldnt get traction most of the time in 1st gear. Pic below was one of the few times it bit and I brought the front wheels up a bit. This was the engine in its more radical stage before I fried an oil pump and killed the engine. If I still had the car the plan was for an ex-Nascar motor detuned for street use........650hp on pump gas N/A. Here is the whole story: http://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24158 The aftermath Long story short (sorry love to share this cars story...miss it) it was lost in 2004 in a freak garage fire caused by lightning. I miss it to no end and cant afford to replace it. It would easily cost 50k cash to replace it. I'm 27 so right now its not in the cards. Next was several other cars which I tried to use to forget about the SS....no luck. Best was a beautiful and FAST Volvo S60R I bought sight unseen from Alamo Autosports/Svenske Racing in Dallas Texas. At the time I had a fully modded Heico S60 T5, see below. The R had full custom intake, intercoooler, downpipe, exhaust (3 inch no muffler fully ceramic coated), custom dyno tuned ecu, modified turbo, lowered suspension, heico Volution wheels, other interior pieces. This car was lost to a deer and guardrail Christmas of 2005. Info on the car found here: http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=53918 After that came Lexus GS430, temporary Camry Hybrid, and now the 335. FINALLY the 335 has filled the void of my lost Camaro, at least for the time being :rocks:. I'll be sure to keep in reality what the current 335 is, a great everyday cruiser that some serious power behind it. It will NEVER replace the pure ferocity of my modded 69 SS, but it will get me to the next project car with smiles at every stoplight and sweeping turn.
