F80 M3 MPG Expectation?
Hi guys.
Just wanted to see if anyone's making prediction on the new M3's mpg. I know some people believe when you're driving M3 or any BMW cars, one shouldn't care about MPG. My philosophy is different. First, Not that I can't afford to pay for fuel, I'd rather use money spent on excessive fuel usage on nice dinner for two. Just because you can spend more doesn't mean you need to spend more, to stay wealthy one must spend less no matter of income (good ex: Bill Gates). Second, I hate stopping by fuel station often. Third, if the new M3 is upto my expectation, I want to drive it daily basis. That means lots of driving... What do you guys think the MPG will be? I hear it'll be 6 cylinder, have more efficient equipments, 8 speed auto, and be less weighted. Current E90 M3 has around 3700 pound and does 20mpg while the new M6 still does 20mpg while 500 pound more heavier and being V8. I'm assuming atleast 25mpg on highway.. |

imo, fuel consumption really hinges on the driver's behaviors.
you could give two people the same cars and same commute patterns, but get differences of 30% easily. fwiw, since owning my 335xi i've averaged 28.5 mpg, which is higher than i was expecting. i do punch it from time to time, but spend a fair bit of time in eco mode too, esp when driving to work. if i drove it like a raped ape all the time in sport mode, i would easily be in the low 20s. |
