I bought a used set of 128i rims that are in great shape. They are 17x7 with a 47mm offset. I want to put these on my 2008 535xi which currently has 17x7.5 with a 43mm offset. I know with the offset the will be ok. Will I notice any difference with .5 inch difference in the rim width? Obviously I'll have a lesser footprint, but I think that with the 4mm gained in the offset that should make it almost to where the current stock wheels sit looking at the profile of the car...correct?

1 inch = 25.4 mm, so 0.5 inch = 12.7 mm

12.7mm - 4mm = 8.7mm

8.7mm/25.4mm = 0.3425" difference in wheel1 compared to wheel2

You technically lost 4mm since the larger the offset the more pushed in and narrower stance the car will have.
