That sounds 20x better than the M4.

Funny how people are looking for things to hate about a car before driving/hearing/seeing one in person, but that's the internet... I admit, I'm on the boat that thinks the M3/M4's exhaust is not all that appealing on video. The F8X generation has a lot of good things going for it, let's reserve our judgements until we hear one in person. Factory M exhausts (emphasis on exhausts, their induction notes are heavenly) almost never sound good. The E30 was quiet as hell, the E36 M3 sounded soft, the E46 M3 was muted and tinny, E60 M5 sounded too restrained, as did the E9X M3. Am I justifying the exhaust note on the M4? No, just saying that historically, BMW falls short of making a standout exhaust that complements their motors. 90% of the E9X crowd have performed some sort of exhaust modifications, this car won't be an exception. As long as it drives good, handles well and hauls ass, sound is secondary to me. The impression I am getting from here, and also many enthusiasts on the internet, is that the RC-F and C63 are automatically better because they have V8s. Let's get those comparos rolling out and see if they are right!

As far as I'm concerned engine noise plays no part in a new car purchase. It can always be changed later though For me, a high compression LSx with a lumpy cam and a free flowing exhaust sounds like heaven. Having had one that idled like a giant, pissed-off Harley made me smile....and scared others

I've never heard anyone say that until now. I had to drive my friend's E30 M3 from Pittsburgh to D.C., and I was about deaf by the time I pulled in the driveway. I could barely hear the buzzy shift knob over the drone of the exhaust, even at idle.

Had a friend that had a Buick Grand National that ran low 11's. I could not stand the car just because of the sound it made. Same goes for the Dodge Viper. Such a fun car but I cant get past the sound it makes.

That's why I put "emphasis on exhaust" if you reread what I typed. I am sure it is loud on the inside! But from an outsider's perspective, I find the car to be very quiet.
