I use everything. I don't discriminate.
Well, that's because i love developing. I use any tool i can get my hands on that will be cheap/fast/easy or great ROI. IDGAF about any particular brand. Somethings are better in Windows, whereas other things are better in OSX/iOS or even Linux.

As for the Launch event. It's whatever! I really don't care. I'm more interested into how the general public feels about the Watch before i decide to invest into developing Apps for it.

I struggle at understanding the point of wearable computers, then you look at the price and it's a complete non-starter for me.

There might be a slight niche market for wearables but... ehhh not for me. Too much technology, the human brain can only take so much... your smart phone, your laptop, your car dashboard, your wearable... too much shit around you each day to drive you nuts. I thought the point of smart phones was for people to have one device that does it all. Nonetheless, i'll still keep an eye of the wearables sales.

I think it's pretty much inevitable that we'll get to where lots and lots of people are wearing them. The tech is still pretty new but once it gets off the ground, the advancements will come hard and fast. Look what Apple did with tablets, other companies (apple included) were trying to get those out since the late 1990s. Now look at them. Same thing with cameras in our phones. Once we get away from clunky headgear and bulky, poor battery, ultra-limited usage devices in the wearable market, I think they'll be adopted quickly.
But what the hell do I know? It's not the industry of my profession |

I went with Yosemite on the laptop for speed. With 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD, it boots from cold to login prompt it about 18 seconds. I yanked the optical drive and moved the original hard drive to that space, so I have about a TB of storage on it with the two drives. My Mac Mini at home is the server version, so it's got dual TB drives. Lots of storage for my pics. There are a couple of photo processing apps that I like that only run in Windows, so that's why I run Bootcamp on the desktop at home. At work I need it for Active Directory and Group Policy work. Just makes life easier. I can't say I find either OS better than the other. Sort of a Ford/Chevy thing. Both work ok, they're just different, and not by much. Biggest hassle is remembering to use Command-<key> vs Ctrl-<key> for keyboard shortcuts. I had a 15" MacBook Pro that the university loaned me, but that trackpad died after a year. It's being repaired now. So I can't say that Apples are bulletproof, but they're generally very solid machines and put Dell hardware to shame. (My opinion, of course.) As for wearable stuff? Not for me. I still use a flip phone because I don't want to be hassled every time an email pops up. There are too many things distracting us these days. My attention span is growing shorter and shorter. I need the time away from the online world to stay sane. I bet if I measured all the minutes in a day when I'm actually having a back-and-forth verbal conversation with my wife, it would be less than 90 minutes. Maybe less than 60. That's pretty sad.

As for now, anyone who buys the watch is just showing off. It doesn't offer anything. It barely makes life more convenient. Great apps will sell it.

The reason i have the gadgets i do is mainly because i develop and sell apps on them. Apart from that, i have no great need for all these damn tablets and smart phones.

This is exactly why I take weekends at the cabin where there is no Wi-Fi, and we have to drive a bit down the hill to get a cell signal.
And if you think knowing where you run and sleep can't get you in trouble, what happens when you tell you SO you went running in the canyons but you were "sleeping" down the street at the hot neighbor's house????? |
