Jeremy Clarkson praises a BMW....
"The fact of the matter is the 135 coupe is the best car BMW makes. I have no hesitation at all, then, in giving this long-awaited return to form the rare accolade of five stars, says Jeremy Clarkson"
http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/tol...cle3103294.ece I never thought this would happen. Fully expected him to bash the 1 coupe as he did for the 1 hatch - "I’m choosing the words for my conclusion with even more care than usual. So here goes. The 1-series is crap." Read Clarkson's full review |

The basic facts are that BMW are softening their stance on what makes a good driver's car, the same is true of the M3 and the car is now appealing to more people, include Mr Clarkson.

Agree with the first half but Clarkson is a long time critic of BMW and that's not going to change. In the latest TG, he picked the Merc over the M3 despite M3's superior track time. On the other hand Audi's street cars have always been softer than its competitors. It makes visual pleasing automobile with pleasant performance for everyday driving but has never been crowned as a leader in luxury performance.

"But its the engine that impresses most of all. It has one small turbo to spin up the instant you apply the power, and then a bigger one that trundles into life later to keep the power coming"
His opinion, positive or negative, as been officially rejected.

I am curious, have you been reading any magazines within the last 3 months because the R8 has for the most part been winning almost everything going. I agree that in the past Audi performance cars have previously been design for efficiency ahead of driving pleasure but things are a changing. Which is all the better for us as consumers, many brands to pick from. |
