cool video, but clearly this has nothing to do with the cars. the miata driver is magnitudes better than gt3 driver. this is one of the phenomenons that make the ring so dangerous. you get the widest possible breadth of skill levels on the same track at the same time, driving the widest possible breadth of vehicles. on any normal day on the ring, many $5000 cars will turn similar times as many $150,000 cars. in the process, talented, safe drivers find themselves driving in close proximity to, and for long periods with, beginners in far faster cars.

Sounds like another day at the track here in the U.S. as well!

I stopped running with a couple of HPDE companies here because I would see beginners with just 2 days experience, in the advanced group.

And yes, this video goes to show that its all about the driver.

I hate that. All too common. Fast cars going slow in advanced and acting as moving road blocks.

Just looks like he can't drive to me.

GT3 was a decent driver. Unfortunately, he was up against a pro (Robert Serwanski) in a very capable Miata.
His lines were horrible and he was super inconsistent. Braking too early on one corner, braking too late the next; and his steering was all over the place too.

This reminded me of track days when I still had my R6 racing against noobs on liter bikes. You would pass them in the turns then they would catch up on the straights then park it before a turn and just get in the way.

Driver made the difference but so did the car, even fully modded the Miata was still close to stock on HP. Once again this proves its not about power.

I don't think the Miata is very close to stock. The 997 wasn't pulling away from it very quickly in the straights.

Just imagine putting the Miata driver in the 997....
