AMG makes a point to have good sounding cars. Even their 4 cylinder AMG engine isn't that bad.
BMW builds a engine for power, emissions, and fuel economy. AMG builds it for the same thing and sound. Even on the AMG website they advertise the sound. on top that they are "probably" able to make v8 engines for cheaper. seeing how they put them in most of their cars. Where BMW uses the 3.0L in every model car. Plus for some reason they dont want a M3 having the same cylinder count as the M5. the F80 should have had a detuned M5 engine. |

I've owned every generation M3, including the F80. *WARNING: THE FOLLOWING IS MY OPINION* The S55 does not sound good. Not even a little. Tell yourself it is unique... Sure... Uniquely atrocious. It sounds like it is having a bowel movement. What makes this sound even more "unique" is the owners that decide accelerating and lifting for that flatulent popping sound is something of a Mozart piece. It isn't. It's disgusting. Please stop. Or don't, it's your life. But you're definitely not idiots for liking the sound... Because everyone is different. I give this post a few days before the mods take it down. (As was my previous post criticizing the cars exhaust note) The end. |

Growing up in the e36 era, BMW's (in my head) are supposed to sound like these:
Im not up on all the engine designations but for me it has to be straight 6 for sound Last edited by Dopeslope; 01-14-2016 at 06:26 AM.. |
