It sounds like the car will be a performance bargain no doubt. But comparing to the m pedigree um nah. Let's be real, Chevy was making the iroc when the e30 m3 was rolling the streets no competition there. 30 ish years later I'm very happy they can compete now. Great time for American muscle right now. But bmw has nothing to be ashamed of.

Chevy is rolling out Daytona International Speedway vehicle delivery: take delivery of your car there and whip it around the track. Like a less-technical version of the BMW PCD option. Fun! http://media.chevrolet.com/media/us/...8-daytona.html

Awesome car, but like someone else said, the looks definitely cater to a certain demographic. I'm just not sure I could own one due to that fact. All else aside, you can't argue with the performance and value.

New SS is sweet... still not in love with the interior but it is somewhere between 1000 and 10000000000 million times better than the old interior
![]() The visibility is an issue but having just had a new non-ss rental camaro for a few days I actually did get used to driving it. No doubt it would be a fun car to own |

I did some track days with a guy who has a ZL1 and it could really get around the track. It's better around the corners than we all want to admit.
I'd never buy one though. |

I have a friend who invited me to a private event at Palmer Motorsports Park (MA) in August 2015. This friend owns a 2005 Ferrari Superamerica. He "made" me sit in the driver's seat to see what it felt like.
Like the Camaro, it was hard to get in and out of, and the visibility was terrible. So what? ![]() I only got one shot of it with my car in the same picture, and it's not the greatest picture, but the red car behind mine is indeed the 2005 Ferrari Superamerica. ![]()

The Motor Trend Camaro 2SS versus BMW M4 Comparison is up on their website. Head 2 Head video to follow soon, but you can read the article now.
Most ironic part of the comparison for me: All the objective tests were decided by razor thin margins. Except for the braking test, which the Camaro easily won. The ironic part is that the M4 had the $8150 carbon-ceramic brake option (plus another $1200 for the mandatory wheels that go with them). ![]() I'm not making that up... http://www.motortrend.com/news/compa...let-camaro-ss/

I noticed that Camaro had crappy tires + wheels combo: heavy 20” wheels with Goodyear Runflats, I sure with forged wheels and non-runflat tires (like tested M4) it should have been even better. I still can't believe it matched M4, which had better wheels/tires setup plus all of that famous carbon fiber stuff, great job Chevy!

For 99% of M drivers? No. If you spend a lot of time at the track then I think they're an option that should be heavily considered.

My current car was between a 2016 Camaro SS and an E92 M3.
I chose E92 M3, because it will hold higher value easier. If I checked boxes on the Camaro SS near $40k. When it comes time to trade it in it will be worth the low $20k's. |

I sold my old SS for 24.5K last year, 2010 model. Those weren't quite as expensive as the newer models, but close. I don't think my F36 is going to hold much more value. All in all, this is the last thing I worry about when buying a car, you only live once and might as well drive the car you want to drive.
