The TAG R8 Goes Lightweight - The New HRE R101 Lightweight | TAG Motorsports

When I first heard we were going to be getting a new R8, and the color that it would be, this exact photoshoot came to my mind. I’ve been thinking of driving out to this location and spending a day with it for quite a few months now. And I’m very glad I did.

The drive there was comfortable, and completely filled with pedestrians shocked and awed, as well as fellow drivers on the road who couldn’t understand how a car so low could travel without any issues or discomfort. Amongst the other cars on the road, this R8 now looks like a completely incredible thing, standing out like a brick of gold in an empty room.

And speaking of room, the interior feels like home. The optional clubsport fixed-back seats are firm but supportive, and your sitting position leaves you in a nicely tilted angle that puts the steering wheel in a reachable and comfortable place. Which is perfect when your steering wheel looks and feels like the Neidfaktor Carbon-Alcantara wheel we’ve installed. Absolutely transforms the driving cabin into a proper experience.

An important part of the combination that makes the TAG R8 one of my favorites thus far, are the beautifully crafted HRE R101 Lightweight wheels finished in their always gorgeous Satin Bronze. If you’re keeping an eye out on our master TAG R8 thread found HERE, you can see the incredible weight savings of the Lightweight design, and how the pocketed construction of the wheel enhances strength and minimizes weight.

This R8 has been an absolute delight so far, and we still have quite a lot ahead of it, so stay tuned.

TAG Motorsports R8 V10 Plus
-20/21" HRE R101 Light Weight in Satin Bronze
-245/30/20 and 325/25/21 Pirelli PZero tires
-Neidfaktor steering wheel in Alcantara/ Matching Matte Carbon, and Red stitching
-KW HAS

It looks great, but since this thread is all about lightweight, what do you consider lightweight? What would wheels in our fitment weigh? Thanks!

The HRE R101LW’s in our fitment come in at:

19 x 9.5 = 16.7 lbs
19 x 11 = 17.6 lbs
20 x 9.5 = 17.2 lbs
20 x 11 = 18.2 lbs

We should have a set coming in very soon

The very first set of R101LW for M3/M4 has arrived here at TAG and we have weighed them officially on our scales. Post can be found HERE.
