lol...it's ironic though, you are the one that is asking for self-driving cars. Not you specifically, but your attitudes and habits.

People who can't learn and are resistant to reason. Are they handicapped, too?

I agree that you should be required to drive an autonomous car.

You've never driven in Dallas, TX. Next time I'm up there, I'll get my GF to take video while I'm driving us from Rowlett to Little Elm (that's a LONG drive through the DFW Metro area). We've got enough storage for 100 mins. of video between our two phones. I'll even do both routes for you (one going, one coming back) that can use 5 to 7 different freeways: The Bush Turnpike, The DNT, Stemmons Freeway (I-35E), LBJ Freeway (I-635), and the R.L. Thornton Freeway (I-30). If I choose to I can take two other freeways in variations of those routes to include the Sam Rayburn Tollway (TX 121) and Central Expressway (U.S. 75). You'll see proof of a 75 MPH average...and, if you know math at all, you'd know how fast you're going most of the time to AVERAGE that speed and you will see how much of the traffic is moving at consistent speeds between 80-85+ MPH.

And to the original point, one cop on those roads will have everyone driving eight mph under the speed limit and acting like idiots. DFW drivers are so scared of popo.

I will say that when I lived in LA, the traffic flow past Bakersfield into Nevada going towards Vegas would frequently be over 100 mph and I cruised at over 115 for a long stretch a few times there. But admittingly never saw a cop.

I remember the first time I passed a police car on an unrestricted part of the Autobahn doing 250kph, I was pretty sure I was living a dream.

Speaking of Dallas, I remember driving there in my new white BMW Bavaria, festooned with a California license plate, in 1972. I was a newly minted lawyer and working for the Ed Muskie Presidential campaign. (Which was experiencing "dirty tricks" from Donald Segretti, the reason why I was sent to Dallas.)

I was driving on a road then called the Dallas Tolls (I don't know if it's still there) and some good ole boy Dallas cop pulled in behind me while I was doing 55 MPH. Got right on my bumper and followed me for miles, and through the exit I took. He wanted me to know he was there, I guess. And didn't take too kindly to hippies from California driving their new BMWs through his city.

The Dallas North Tollway has been known as such since its opening in 1968. The only other toll road in the metro area in 1972 would've been the Dallas-Ft. Worth Turnpike (modern day non-tolled I-30) between West Dallas and East Ft. Worth.

Then I stand corrected! Thanks. I think, though, that that was its nickname 45 years ago. (It would have been right around mid March 1972.) But if I'm wrong I'll attribute that to part of the reason why Ed Muskie lost. (I spent a week in Dallas and Fort Worth looking for a phantom Scoop Jackson for President office that the Nixon dirty tricksters were operating. Never found it. Was interviewed by the Watergate Committee but declined to testify.)

I used to work for verizon. I can assure you that you have lost signal, whether you realized it or not. Also, if you drive in rural and desert areas, no carrier will have signal. guaranteed.

Give me a freaking break. I drive there at least every 3 months. I'm there next month and in June. You've also changed the goalposts Hell, you can't even drive that fast on a lot of the stuff because the road condition is really that bad, haha. Some sections they've been working on for the 5 years or so that I've been coming down there regularly....
