check creigs list for local DJ's contact them and see if anyone is looking to upgrade and buy their used professional equipment , budget should get you some quality pieces. Bargain hard not a big market for used equipment.

Do these qualify as karaoke systems

https://www.alibaba.com/product-deta...115.183.9ELORt

Playing with you.

You will need to get some PA speakers (depending on the size of your room or *******. Mixer for mic in and signal in for music. Rest of the setup depends on your current equipment. Amplifier, tv/projector screen, etc...

Surround sound speakers don't work well for karaoke.

How professional do you want it to be? I just use my guitar amps for the mics output and use my surround sound sys for the videos. Works well enough.

I'd get an Arirang karaoke head (super cheap if you buy in VN- $200), a nice mixer/amplifier from Guitar Center ($300-400), and spend the rest on some nice microphones and speakers. If anything, the speakers are probably the most important. With Arirang machines, if you need to update to get new songs, you can buy a disc for $2 or download an update file online (if your machine has a hdd).
