I go to school in Anaheim Hills so I'm near Cal State Fullerton, there are M4s in this area all the time! I doubt anyone will mess with it... That being said I'm 17 and take my Z4 M to high school, park it right next to a yellow Z06 and a black ZCP E92 m3. Do people try to fuck with it? Sure, but it's just a car. Someone poured orange juice on my car and the microfibers in my trunk took care of it.

Unless you park like a douche or have some political sticker on it the car won't get vandalized (assuming you don't count door dings as "vandalization").

Ive never had anyone key my cars or do any damage to it. I didn't even have any door dings when I turned in my alpine white. I have CF covers on the new M zcp and I heard people steal them all the time yet nothing has happened. It is in your mind and your putting your car too high on a pedestal, its only a car quite expensive maybe but you see them all the time its common especially in cali. Mind over matter you should be driving it more often for sure, you missing out on the enjoyment of you and your machine!
To get out of the mindset is to drive it and feel the power, squeal your tires, and the G forces from a fine piece of engineering. The brain is amazing and your in control, stop thinking negative and start being positive. The fear of damage is not worth your time. Your young just be safe, responsible and pick up some girls in that beauty. Just like the fear of flying, my brother is a captain on virgin america and he has stated that in flight school statistically you are more likely to get hit by lighting than die in a plane crash. So many flights and regulations make it the fastest and a safe way to travel just gotta get over that hump, once you do it enough becomes normal and you realized you stressed over nothing.

I never understood the need to purchase something that has a real life purpose, and not use it. That said, it's your money, you can do with it whatever makes you happy. |

Leaving it in the garage is not making someone happy for sure. He is only stressing and fighting the urge to take it out at night when no one else is out but thats not life!! You should be able to do what you want with the glory of freedom, and watching it like a 3d poster is not a way to be happy!!!! Spin those tires and hold on tight!!!
1st world problems true but 3rd world eating raw meat and walking a mile everyday for water isn't what we all worked hard for!!! I hope one day all the world is 1st rate, just too many people and too far a distance for some. Its a shame these tribes and people are not part of society because one time in their history they migrated to be alone and safe through egos and war...can't we all just get along? And race each other on the track?

I agree with Dackelone
Before I got the M2, I was shopping around for winter wheels and tires. The day I saw it in person...I decided to get a beater I love having a nice car that I can drive on my own terms. At times I consider it a waste because I don't drive it a lot, but to quote Ferris, "It is so choice!," and this is 'Murica!!! I found a 2000 Toyota Celica GTS 6mt with 68000 miles with winter tires already on the car. I actually love driving that car because I don't care what happens to it. I got in a minor accident 3 months after I bought it and they financially salvaged it. It now has 78000 miles and I am into it for @$2500 after the settlement. Came with a new clutch. I changed all fluids, got new brakes all around inc rear calipers, new plugs, etc. Should be a reliable car for the years to come. As a tell people at work. I love driving the M2, I am terrified to park it.

My son is learning how to read English so i gave him this thread to read.he had a few questions op:
1. Are you sure your mom is completely sane? Mine taught me to drive in an F82. She is not normal. 2. Do you have a dog? 3. Why do you have a girlfriend? Girls are gross. He is seven. And annoying.

I could see OP worrying for the first two weeks or so.. Maybe even a couple months. Two years later? Seems a bit of a stretch Just go out and drive your car. If something happens to it, something happened to it. I used to be the same way with clothes. I would buy a shirt or shoes that I really liked only to never wear them because I didn't want to get them messed up. I have slowly gotten better at this and wear my nicer stuff much more frequently because I can always replace them later IF they get messed up. (It also helps buying two of said item so hopefully graduation is coming up so your moms can get you another nice car - get a 991 Porsche instead though. You aren't a kid anymore) Take her to Diamond Jamboree and show her that it's normal for young kids to drive McLarens, Ferraris, etc... She will think she is settling by buying you the 911. |

I only drive the E90 on weekends, for the most part, because my wife daily drives it.
I have a "beater" pickup truck, 2002 GMC Sonoma 5 spd, with plastic on the floor, and I still have to roll the windows up/down and push the button on each door to lock it. But I would be willing to put the shine on my 2002 against the shine on your M4. . . |
