I want a car with analog gauges, i already have a smartphone for nav etc.

BMW, please dont copy this trend!

I also like Rolex watches and not a fan of apple watches, all i'm saying give people choices.

Not everyone is into the nonsense, some people still like the raw experience of driving a car without all the shit you dont need! Good suspension tuning, engine noise, steering wheel feedback etc.

I love the digital dashes. the best part, most companies have views that look like standard gauges. I have not been in a BMw with the digital, but all the cars I have, the "standard" gauges look traditional.

Good thread topic!

I'm torn between the purist and progressive paths, and see the merits of each. Looking forward to reading replies.

You have 3 choices:
  • Buy used
  • Buy bespoke
  • Get used to it

Too late:

I'm with anglo, but like the manuals, analog dials will soon be a thing of the past.

The old school driving gloves made me laugh.

I can't see the desire for old school in something like an A8, but would love a manual TT RS with no nav screen or Virtual Cockpit.

You probably need goggles to go with the gloves... to get rid of the glare from all of those TFT panels.

We have the Virtual Cockpit on my wife's A4. Frankly, it's fantastic. It does take some getting used to though. We had a previous gen A6 as a loaner and it was so disappointing (for a lot of reasons, but the dash included).

And by the way, I wear an analog watch. You can have both. They don't negate each other.

I've used it in a few friends cars and like it for most daily drivers. But I'll always prefer sports cars with as little fluff as possible. Room for both, much like three pedals.
