I had the previous generation Raptor Special Edition that I paid sticker for. Drove it to SVC and got all the goodies put on it. Quite possibly the best truck I ever had one year and 25K miles later.
I ended up selling the thing on Autotrader and nearly got all my money back plus the mod money. Only car I didn't lose money on considering the mileage and age!!

I'm waiting till Ford gets some of the QC issues completely sorted out. Transmission problems, oil leaks and various superficial issues is not something I want to deal with on any vehicle purchase let alone a $65k truck. Let's hope Ford will be proactive and address them in the 2nd year of production.
I was able to test drive one and really liked the V6 HO Ecoboost. Yes it's not a V8 but it moves for sure and sounds significantly better than the F8X. |

Based on the feedback owners provided on various Raptor forums, yes. I'm not certain on how widespread the issues are but some of them are so obvious it certainly makes you question Ford's commitment to making a quality product. If the QC teams miss the obvious what are they missing that can't easily be seen?

As far as I know, not many issues with the manual or auto. But then again, not many cars have been taken to the track yet.
I've seen more LT4 (engine) concerns that transmission issues. Concerns like the LT4 in the last Z06.....overheating. |

Here's a list of documented issues I copied from one of the forums: Again, some of these seem so silly that you can't help but question Fords QC. - Ford Performance Labeled engine cover - Rusty half shafts, live axle, front driveshaft, skidplate, rear diff - Oil Pan leaks - Transmission issues (there are a few different ones showing up on different threads) - Full set of skid plates - Subwoofer (installed behind driver seat) - Battery tray damage (see pic) - Hood damage (see explanation, may be unique) - Fit on bed side rail caps, cups out just behind cab - Transport damage (scratches, dents, etc) - wiring harness support anchors (I have found several unclipped) - vibrations (wheel/tire balancing issues have been identified) - mismatched headlights - camera function - mismatched seatbelt mounts - leather quality/consistency on the seats - Paint Issues including missed areas and poor finishing |

Owning a 2008 Tacoma DCB 4X4 off-road with 63,000 miles and having Car Max offer me 21k for it I thought I would entertain looking at a Raptor. The local Ford dealer in Temecula has a 70k Raptor marked up to 104k. Most of the other Ford dealers that have them in San Diego county are marking the trucks up from 15k - 25k. This reminds me when I was interested in the 2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302 and most dealerships where marking the vehicle up 20k. In the Mustang case I purchased a new (2013) Z06 and called it a day.

I frequent a Camaro Forum (I am waiting on a ZL1 with the 10 speed), I have not seen a single real complaint (one or two, my brand new car is doing this, is it normal etc), and those guys are hypersensitive about any potential issue (that may not really be an issue).

I'm currently on the waitlist at my local dealer for a Raptor at MSRP.
I've considered getting a Platinum instead due to the fact that I'll rarely, if ever take it offroad, but I'm still leaning towards a Raptor because of resale value and not having to deal with mods. Anyone have this same dilemma before? What did you decide?

I went through all that when purchasing my 2013 Raptor. When you order it like I did, it's easier to negotiate. Once they hit the lot, forget it.
Best resale value of any vehicle ever, period. Basically drove it for free for two years. Loved that truck! Good luck

If it's the vehicle you want, then go for it especially if you're not paying over MSRP and have the time to wait for it. |

most MSRP Raptors that dealers have in stock are heavily optioned and that dealer was no exception... the build I want comes out to around $67-68k MSRP which skips all of the decal packages and beadlock wheels, but has the tech package, pano roof and man-step

Bought my 2018 Ford Raptor with 70k+ sticker for MSRP a week ago. The truck has all the must haves and luckily I have a friend who had a some contacts at this dealer and the $8500.00 dollar market adjustment disappeared.
The Raptor has me impressed with its level of performance in a truck and even I even managed to have some fun on my favorite backroads with it. |
