Good for you. Give him all you've got and he'll return it.
5.5 months since I had to put my little man down. Getting better, except for a week in mid September. Watched some old videos of him and it put me into a bad place. Wasn't ready, I suppose. Warning: Could bring tears. http://www.ktvu.com/news/father-crie...with-new-puppy They are amazing creatures.

I am 53 and have had 3 of my best friends pass away on me.
The first being my childhood dog (half whippet and half beagle), her name was Princess and she was a hunting machine living to the ripe old age of 18. My second best friend was our Maltese named Muffin, he was 4.5 lbs of all personality and the first dog that my wife and I got together. His life was cut short when he was hit by a car and had to be euthanized when he was only 4. I too like you, held him and petted him till his last breath. I cut a lock of his hair off and have that still today. My third dog, Max a Westie, was the best companion anyone could ask for, he started getting sick on one of my many combat deployments and held on till I returned home after 6 months in Iraq, he had to sleep standing or sitting because his lungs would fill would fluid. I held him on the table till his last breath and cried for a whole day. He was 14 and I have a lock of his hair as well. My heart goes out to you my brother from one who knows what your going through. Time is the only thing that will heal your pain but try just to remember all the great times you had together and i promise it will bring a smile to your face just as he did when he was standing by your side. Thank you for your post.
