Max Verstappen could not participate in qualifying. The team discovered additional gearbox problem and it had to be replaced with a new unit.

Ricciardo got pole, let's hope his team doesn't screw him over again.

like most of his crashes there is no one to blame actually.. right before he hits the wall, literally his foot was on the gas pedal you can hear it in vids.. that can explain the things pretty easily.. Max is a huge risk taker.. and most of the time it doesnt work.. just need to check this website regularly to keep yourself up-to-date about Max..

http://crashstappen.com/

lets have some nostalgia..

I wish I could have seen qualifying.

I am currently in Spain but F1 is not on any local television stations.. I would expect this in the USA, not in Europe.

Like usual in Monaco , I expect more crashes during the race from today ...
And there is too much heat for the Mercs !

Race is almost on. I was going to write something about crashtappen, but it looks like everybody else already has. He may be Kyvat II. I seriously think that neither Ferrari nor Merc want VES, which means he will need to keep impressing at Red Bull. after all, everyone knows how fast a star can fall at Red Bull.

Yeah . Even your username is applicable in your statement
But actually you are wrong . Because Mercedes and Ferrari offered a contract from 20 million pounds for Max .
And that's a record in the F1 history ...

The article you can read on this page . It's in Dutch , so you need to use Google-Translate => https://www.gewoonvoorhem.nl/ferrari...ax-verstappen/

And yes...The race is almost on !

DannyRic looked strong. Car looks strong. Haas terrible. Rough day coming for those boys. But maybe Mags can salvage points. I imagine some screaming and yelling from grosjean. Everyone else about what you’d expect.

Damn this race was boring as hell.
Congrats to Danny, well deserved.
And if it wasn't for Max this 'race' would have been a complete joke. At least Max passed other guys.

yea, tragically boring. The tires do play a big role. Rather than a race, we witnessed cars driving on eggshells to try to make it to the finish line. They couldn't push but then the tires weren't worn out enough to warrant a pit stop.

The last time was that the tires would just drop off without any warning, right? Now that it has an in between period between being good and useless, teams chose to have drivers coast on that in between period rather than race.

Max has 2 more years with Red Bull.. till that contract ends he can be "tamed" more for f1.. i believe Daniel can be elsewhere than Red Bull more likely.. despite winning in Monaco he s free to go after this year..

Merc or Ferrari would be idiots not to sign Ricciardo. Comparing Max to Kyvat is one of the dumbest things I've seen recently. The talent level is not even close. He is just 20 and a multi race winner. He will grow into a champion.

Max hit the same wall in the same place he did in 2016, with the same result. I thought they were showing a rerun. At least he didn't wreck anyone in the race, although he did get a stern warning about not being a jerk when passing. Horner is right -- Max needs to change his approach to driving. All the quickness in the world will not help if he gets in the car with the wrong mental outlook.

GREAT drive by Ricciardo! He is showing his worth. It will be interesting to see what kind of contract he gets for next year, and from whom.

I'll bet Alonso is wishing he was in Indianapolis. McLaren is becoming an embarrassment.

All in all though a boring race. The cars are too wide, and speeds to similar, for any passing. Even an injured car could not be passed; on any other track Vettel would have been down the road. Only rain makes Monaco potentially interesting as a race.

When most of the drivers pitted around lap 18 of a 78 lap race (on a 1-stop strategy), that makes for a pretty boring 60 laps.

RIC was as cool as a cucumber.
Sadly the race was a lot of tension but not enough excitement. Because of the tires all the front runners are nursing their car and watching will others will pit.
