Gerald Genta at his best. Watched this the other day - counterfeits help appreciate the real thing.

The Comment section hits him hard for the sunglasses, I’m very light sensitive so I understand. But I found him agreeable.

Cuz the offshore main purchasers are athletes and rappers with more money than sense. Helped start the large watch trend.

Fair. That guy doesn't look like either, however.

No big deal, sunglasses indoors are just a pet peeve of mine.

I don't have a problem with what he said, or his intent to educate.

His delivery was a little off-putting to me, however, and the glasses weren't helping his case either.

He didn't mention the most obvious ways to tell:

Fakes do not use sapphire crystal

Just flip the friggin thing over and look at the movement, most don't have the crystal back and if they do one look and you can tell.

I thought AP ROOs had solid case backs?

Also, many, many replicas use sapphire crystals.

All royal oaks from 2015 or 2016 have display backs

90% do not use sapphire crystals, the better fakes use coated mineral glass, most use Acrylic watch glass. if you suspect someone is trying to sell you a fake ask them to run a key over the face of the watch if its real they won't hesitate.

The other telltale sign is the fake won't have a ceramic crown and pushers
