I recall a while ago (a month or two ago), that the news mention he had a flu and lung infection.

R.I.P. legend, now he can race James Hunt again in heaven.

The biggest damage was extensive burns to his lungs, it was this lung damage which finally got him. RIP Niki, I am so sad to hear the news, I had hoped the lung transplant was working and you were once again defying the odds.
Niki, one of the all time great F1 drivers.

True legend. Racing those seventies soapbox cars on the Nurburgring was absolutely nuts.

How I enjoyed his sharp mind and ruthless opinions as a pundit..

Now I won't have to cringe every time they pan to the Mclaren garage during F1 races.

I thought Daniel Bruhl was great as Lauda.

Yup! He was brilliant.
I ended up thinking "that's Niki Lauda" when I watched Captain America Civil War.

I witnessed the Niki running at Long Beach a couple of times piloting inferior cars nd he was among the most competitive, and then there was a Time Magazine article about him-heartbreak on the health kept him from being even better.

the funeral was on Wednesday as far as i remember.. he made a lot of good things for the sport and people around.. at the times that he was running Lauda Airlines, one of his planes crashed somewhere in the far east.. he was running here and there to find out why and for how to prevent it for not happening again.. after 1-2 months i guess it was Boeing 767's engine reverse thrust issue.. probably he saved more lives even if he felt the responsibility on his shoulders of more than 200 people died in that crash.. in his young ages as he states he was like an asshole but he was always after whats right in this life.. i ll remember you with red Parmalat hat.. even if that company is bankrupted recently.. RIP Niki..
