Small F1 teams' misery may continue
With the introduction of a $175 million cap for teams in '21 excluding driver salaries (of course) engines and some other things.
Haas team boss Steiner has stated there is little chance of the smaller teams spending anything near that amount keeping in mind not getting a decent return on investment at some point, while it would be no problem for the big three. He is calling for a further reduction of the $175m in '22 at least to give a fighting chance to bring things more level with the 'bigies'. He also hinted there is a risk of owner Haas deciding to quit F1 if things continue as they are. It will be interesting how Carey responds,if he does that is with the pressure of the manufacturers being a dominant factor. |
