I agree. I was one of the first in my area to have a Terminator. Eventually put a Kenne Bell blower on it. Now if you want an "unmolested" Termi...you will pay for it.

That's why I don't think the C6Z will go much lower in price. The prices you see are great now. I can honestly see it regaining more value in the future even if it is small.

Crazy low miles on it as well. You could tell it was well taken care of.

If you can afford it, go for it. I drove my buddy's z06 (well modded, ~600whp), it was helluva fun. I did not realize how difficult it was to drive a car with torque, especially around corners.

Agreed, many are owned by older guys. My main point to the OP was to avoid the ones owned by younger guys who are doing all the performance work on their cars and really stressing the drive line and chassis at the drag strip, street racing and whatever else they’re doing. I know they’re tough cars but hole shots with sticky tires, burnouts and excessive redlines and over revs do take its toll over time as you know.
I’m on several Corvette forums and there a bunch of guys who beat the shit out of their Corvettes(Z06 included) and many who don’t and do exactly like you described. I’d be looking for that guys car if I was the OP.

THIS. Vettes and Zs in particular will kill you if you let them. They are brute force, no lag, no delay, spin tires in anything less than 5th, rocket ships. And you better know how to drive one. This is why the old adage "there's no replacement for displacement" still hold true. You get 500+ HP and a fat, juicy, long lasting torque curve, with no delays. I'm contemplating a C6 Z06 as well as a C7 GS when I get back to the States.

I think you very well might be right on appreciation. The LS7 will likely be the most powerful, street N/A V8 Corvette in its long history. The fact that it’s wrapped in the wide body C6 body and it’s low weight certainly wont hurt it. I bet it appreciates also.

No I didn’t forget. The ZL1 was a very limited engine, special COPO order and rare as hens teeth and it was rated from the factory at about 430 if I recall. I think only 2 or 3 found their way into Corvettes from the factory. There’s talk of this holy grail engine producing much more then its factory rated HP but they were tested not in a car but on a Dyno stand and I’m sure you know the numbers are much higher on the stand and the factories weren’t monitored for honesty. Engine on stand, race gas, custom not factory headers, no drive line loss, no accessories robbing power and whatever tweaks the engineers could do to raise numbers. They did...Before 1971, engines were factory rated using a process defined by the Society of Automotive Engineers as 'Gross' horsepower. This figure was calculated on a test stand with no intake, exhaust or power-robbing accessories attached. We can’t even talk about engine tech because fuel inj, computers and all obviously sets apart the two engines but one can’t claim the older is more powerful then say it’s not fair because new technology. More power is more power.

The economy will climb out of the hole pretty quickly when they get a firm handle on this thing and before then you might see prices of Z’s dropping at this moment in time because some might need liquidity in these trying times, a buyers market.
