Question Audi R8 spotted with V10 engine? (Clear pics of engine bay and video)

This certainly looks real. I dont think it's a PS because the pics are from different angles and the reflections are totally different and look genuine.

The V10 looks very much like the V10 in the new LP560-4:

The R8's V8 clearly looks different:

Remember guys we havent seen any spypics of this R8 V10's engine bay before. The rear window has always been tinted.

R8 V8 on the left, R8 V10 on the right:

Oh yeah guys and the pics and video were taken in Florida. I'm sure you seen the reflectors. Audi has been known the test cars in Florida. On the forum I found these pics some guy seen the R8 and S5 testing in Melbourne long before their release.

I must admit this is strange. This would mean the R8 is receiving the NA V10 option and NOT the V10TT. I'll need to check this with some good sources

So EVO were right all along when they posted that the R8v10 would N/A and not like all the other magazines which said otherwise. It would a missed opportunity because the TTv10 would have given Audi the engine to beat them all.

Am I right in thinking that Porsche have controlling share in VAG, that may explain the turn around to protect their own market share of this super/sportscar market.

Infact Footie, look how different the RS4 and R8's engines bays look despite having the same engine:

I dont think we can be 100% sure it's an NA engine in that R8 V10 prototype.

Better men than me would be able to tell whether this is N/A or turbo charged just by looking at it but to me I can't see how or where the piping could be for there for the turbos.

If it's not turboed what's the output figures of the car (estimated)?

The Lamborghini, does it not kick out something like 560hp and that's from 5.2L, if Audi use the same engine and drop capacity to 5.0L but maintain to same tune that should give the R8 around 538hp. That would still be enough see off the M6 and possibly even the GTR, but only if they give it a DSG system similar to the Nissan's.

How does these figures sound to you.

Well, I cant be sure at all, even though I did think it was NA by looking at it first.

But I'm no expert. I know what parts are which, but maybe Audi modified the piping etc to fit into the R8's engine bay?

Let's not forget the facts:

- Audi fitted the 6.0 V12TDi in the same engine bay
- The Le Mans Concept 2003 had a 5.0 V10TTFSi pushing out 610bhp. It's interesting because T Bone said that Audi using 5.0 V10TTFSi to get 580bhp is crap. I'm around 90% sure that the engine is pushing out more than that! They done it with this concept achieving 122hp/l

http://www.supercars.net/Pics?v=y&id...oConcept10.jpg

That pic shows all the turbo piping. Maybe Audi managed to get all the turbo piping and fittings hidden. I have no idea, but at least we have proof it's receiving the V10

I just don't believe this is a turbo unit we are seeing it this car, also I lighten some of the shots and you can clearly see the Audi trade mark red sparkplug covers. This is definitely the real deal or at least something which Audi has developed even if it's not the finish article.

It was my first impression too, and I still feel myself leaning towards the NA route. I still think it is that, I just dont want to rule anything out because there have been so many engines in that bay

A good source has said It will get the same 5.2 V10 FSI Audi engine as the Lamborghini LP-560-4. That seems accurate because they both look alike. Check my original post.

Sweet, my bro is going to be stoked! He's number one on the list for the V10 on the local dealers list Now he just needs to get rid of his spot for the V8 version. Anyone wanna buy an October build spot for the V8 version?
