Ford + Google

(Apple + Hyundai) >= (Ford + Google) >> Tesla As the world evolves, I see Tesla becoming a brand like Prada or Louis Vuitton, not a global leader in vehicle technology. Toyota and Honda have not made interesting announcements lately. They will. VAG lately is on a favorable roll as a general statement, and have the wherewithal to make whatever they want to happen, happen. |

Apple + VAG would've been a real winning combo IMO, I'm pretty disappointed to see Apple going with Hyundai. Tesla to me is a lot more like Apple than brands like Louis/Prada--Tesla hasn't really introduced anything new, they've just improved upon technology and features such as autopilot (not much more than Active cruise + lane centering) and battery range. Those designers that you mentioned are known for quality, which is not exactly Tesla's strong suit.

I'd say this is a bad move for Ford, or any joint venture between Big Tech and Big Automotive. IMO Google is the problem, not the solution. Enough people now are distracted by their Big Tech phones while driving, now Ford is going to integrate Google into their cars?
I just hope they leave the New Bronco out of it. Just an automotive enthusiast's perspective.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."
