One of my buddies drove me back to an aid station at our base camp, about 15 miles to the rear. I "came to" while we crossing a big river, on a barge. I stayed at the aid station over night for observation for a possible concussion. My chest and back hurt like hell, as did my head. The medics gave me APC (military version of aspirin). I was back on duty the next day, in the field, sore as hell. Location: Near the Cambodian border, Vietnam, 1969.

Around here, they avoid testing you for drugs/alcohol unless specifically requested by LEO, because most insurance companies won't pay for care if it was caused by intoxication. The bill for that ambulance/ER visit is often better than $20k and they don't want to lose the revenue.
