I live in Tahoe which gets pounded by very deep snowfall a few times a year. I have a Chevy Colorado ZR2 with all-terrains fully locked when it's over a foot deep on our street. The M240 would just plow with the low ground clearance.

I need the truck for the deep stuff but you may get away with it if your road is plowed quickly on storm days. I70 itself is always packed down nicely or plowed so deep snow shouldn't be a problem there. If it's just icy or packed down I plan to use the BMW.

For both of us, switching to real snow tires will be the smart move. Our Audi SQ7 has a second set of tires and wheels with snows for the winter. I plan to swap out the all-season RFTs I'm getting with snows after a couple of years so I can do the same thing with the BMW. I'll get the high performance wheels and tires from BMW to run in the summer most likely.

I'll have a better opinion in a few months after living with the car in snow for a while.
I live on a bus route right right off of 119. First snowfall is slated for Friday so let's see how it goes. Our truck recently broke down and needs a new motor but my hubs will need that for his commute in the snow.

I think I'll have more ground clearance in the bmw vs my fiesta when it finally starts production. I'm a little frustrated having ordered a month ago and still haven't gone into production. :

The bmw and fiesta are so different in every way it'll take some getting used to.

Any concern with the salt, sand and road treatment chemicals damaging the vehicle? They salted the roads here today in preparation for a light dusting of snow and I'm really reluctant to even take the m240i out.

We have an X3 that will get a lot of usage during the winter. I know the m240i has x drive as well but with it sitting so much closer to the ground, it gives me enough pause to where I probably wouldn't drive it unless the roads are clear of salt.

Ceramic coating and clear bra should help with any issues. My car will be a daily driver

Vehicels go through a ton of testing in various conditions before they are released so I'm sure it won't hurt the M240 (I plan to DD mine in MI), well except for maybe a rock chip in the paint.

IF its something you're going to keep, or are just super picky about your cars get it PPF'ed as mentioned. Not sure if the M240 will be the same, but I found both of the F30's I've had are stone chip magnets. I PPF'ed my Boxster because I do occasional track days and wanted that car to stay perfect, or very close to it!
