The link below is a tech article (actually a BMW training module) on how the x drive functions. While it is for a different and earlier model i am pretty sure most of the basics apply to the M240ix drive. The unit discusses how the x drive varies and intervenes relative to understeer or oversteer. It covers how it works relative to DSC, DTC, tire tolerance logic etc. Pages 10-19 are a nice overall summary of how it functions. A good read for those interested in a bit more technical info on how your car works. This link was copied from a series of tech articles found elsewhere at this forum website.
