Mine is not a M2, but the orange paint still loves the sunlight and vice versa! Only Thundernight would have a chance to switch me away!

Hey, everyone. Thanks for your replies and photos. I put in my order today and yup, I am taking a chance and getting Thundernight! Pretty much ordered every option except for Adaptive Cruise because I rarely ever drive freeway in town and I have a larger more comfy SUV for longer journeys. But I got red calipers because I thought it looks nicer with the purple paint and the M Pro package for those awesome wheels and larger brakes (FTW). Now I just gotta do the waiting game. Hoping for April or May delivery.

Good call in my opinion on both the skin and caliper colors. The blue calipers look fantastic as well, but I think the red calipers give it some contrast, and at least on the rear wheels blend in well with the red portion of the rear taillight lenses.

I just need a test drive to ensure I don't completely hate the steering before I order something similar to your choices.

I got mine in Black sapphire. I think as with most cars, you're always going to have the thought that maybe you should've gotten the other color. This car looks great in quite a few of the color options; I was really torn between Blue, Black, and Thundernite. I settled on black on black as I never have had a black car before and wanted to give it a shot

Go with your gut, I think having regrets is just part of the deal when you're getting a car you like in multiple color options.

Yeah totally, grass is green syndrome. I had a black, white, and blue car before so I went on a limb on the purple. Its growing on me daily when I see the photos. By the time it actually arrives, I should be in love. LOL

If you decide that you prefer a match to a contrast, you can always have the calipers painted. Mine were blue (MSport) but my BMW dealer arranged this for me in Valencia Orange, and I added back the decal.

Here is a photo of a Thundernight M240i in a cloudy sky from the Portimao Blue G42 meets snow for the 1st time in Chicago thread. Doesn't look black to me. Without sun highlights, the car becomes more of a solid purple.

You would have gone for solid purple? Why? What is wrong with metallics for your eyes?

i like the purple... but i've been known to make impulsive choices, that after some time i start to regret... I went with BSM, i would have wanted a deep Blue, Green or Orange... maybe i'll get a wrap some day

I believe it's OK for people to have different opinions. While I agree the metallic in Thundernight makes it pop, I don't see an issue if someone else wants a "standard" non-metallic paint. I have a friend/coworker who absolutely loved the Rhapsody Blue on his 17 Continental and also got a non-metallic burgundy on his Harley, where to my eye metallic blues like the Aqua Blue on my Boxster and Zephyr Blue on my Harley are much more appealing. With that said however, my M240 (if it ever arrives) is Brooklyn Gray so opinions can change.

I kind of like the Purple.. but would wear on me after 1-2 years as the initial excitement fades away. Plus I don't want my M240 to be known locally as the Barney Car

I agree with you completely but find the differences interesting, so I ask. I wonder if it's the appearance or the repairability, for example. Flats are easier to match.

I did consider the Portimao Blue but it's not really any easier for repairs than the purple. Also Brooklyn Grey is also metallic not a gloss grey. It has golden or warm colored metallic flakes though it's more subtle and only visible in bright lighting

As the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'm not beholden to the purple, but the orange looks good.

I think all their colors are very pretty. I initially thought about getting the purple but after seeing it, I thought it may grow old after a while so instead I open to go with Brooklyn Gray. White was my second best. Just go with whatever your heart tells you!!

I'm going with BG also, but am starting to have some doubts if it'll get old before the lease is up? I currently have a Alpine White/Coral Red 340, after 3 years it hasn't become old I think because the white is a "bright" color and suits the car so well.

I'm not overly keen on the thunder night metalic in the sun, to much like violet from what I have seen.

I do love midnight purple on the skyline GT-Rs though
