Maybe it's the type of film they used.
what type of film did you use? ceramic or standard?

Not really sure. I had the dealership put it on before I picked it up.

I think they put ceramic tint on it because I don't get too much of a glare while driving and I think it does a good job at blocking UV rays.

Prior to this car I had basic tint at the same percentage and had issues with seeing.

Yep, most of the time I keep it open.

I went 6 years having a car without one so I'm making up for lost time, lol

I just realized this car has a sunroof and I’ve owned it for a week.

I haven’t had anything with a sunroof in more than ten years.

just wondering if anyone with non-ceramic 20% tint is having issues with the lights dimming? that is what I'm considering getting on my car but don't want to have this dimming problem.

I have my windows limo tinted all over with a front strip on the windshield and I do not have this issue. My tint is non-ceramic as well. I hope all works out for you.

just wanted to provide an update on this. I went super conservative and did non ceramic 35% tint and now I am noticing the dash lights dimming at times making it hard to see them, especially with sunglasses on. I do keep my sunroof shade open too. fortunately it doesn't seem to happen too often or last very long but it is super annoying when it does happen.

So, have you had this discussion? Any information? Would think in AZ they have dealt with this complaint and have a recommendation for tint.

Not yet. The car has just reached port (Oxnard), so I'll be speaking to my CA in the coming week... Stand by.

Has there been an update on this? Is this issue widespread or can I safely tint my vehicle?

My CA says he is unaware of this problem but if the tint proves to be a problem for dimming of the displays, the dealership will change the tint at no cost to me.

Just took the edge off. So far it hasn't effected the auto dimming.
Any update on dimming issues? What kind of tint? Trying to zero in on a level and type of tint I could install that won't cause dimming issues...

Is the general consensus at this point to go with non-ceramic tint?

I have an appointment with Ceramic Pro Burbank for tint/PPF and they've been adamant about ceramic still being the better option. Not sure how hard I should push back on this considering the issues brought up in this thread.

Any idea what brand film was used? I'm thinking it may be a matter of quality rather than ceramic vs. regular.

I had this exact same issue in my 21' X5… I have ceramic tint as well but know the issue is widespread with the digital cockpit and any kind of tint for that matter. I solved the issue by adding 30% ceramic tint to my windshield also. The display still dims, however, I can see it without issue because the windshield tint cut the overall glare and light from coming in. Also leaving the sunshade open does provide the light sensor enough light to make the screen brighter.

Just to provide an update on this, I went with 35% front, 25% rear 3M Ceramic IR and 80% 3M Crystalline on the front windshield. No dimming issues here.
