Does BMW Paint Trunk lid with spoiler attached?

Guys I think I might have gotten fleeced by my dealer who supposedly sold me a new car. Under careful examination it would appear that there's overspray on the molding tape that holds the spoiler onto the trunk of the vehicle. Is this normal or is this a sign the car has been repainted at some point.

Can someone check theirs and confirm?

according to this thread where someone took off their spoiler:

https://g42.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1881647

It doesn't appear that BMW leaves it on while painting.

Great... So it's had paint. Someone with a background in body shop work confirm that's what we're seeing here?

Hopefully you are aware that it is not uncommon for damage to occur during, production, during loading on ship, during off loading etc. The VDC's all have body work/paint capabilities to repair such damage. That is a legitimate part of the process. They still are considered NEW cars. Only if the damage is over 3 percent of the value of the car does the dealer even get notified.
Now it is possible it got damaged at the dealership during a test drive if yours was an off the floor model, in that case the dealer would be aware of the fix, if they are unaware then it is likely a legitimate repair at the VDC.

This was a dealer unit transferred between dealerships. It was sold to me with 22 miles on the bill of sale and arrived with 145 even though I paid $500 for truck transport. Other issues beside this with paint, chips scratches etc. This would be icing on cake.

OOOH....That tells me more.....not good...what makes this bad is the transfer between dealerships as the primary can claim the secondary one did the damage? If the scratches, chips were noted to dealership at time of delivery you could attempt to have the original dealer pay for detailing etc to repair/buff out scratches etc, if you noted them only after you took possession you may have a hard time getting them to correct as they can claim you did the scratch/chip damage.

Yep, pretty bad experience. I did a Friday night pick up so it was dusk when I saw car for first time, not to mention freezing cold. I notified the dealer immediately the following Monday of the issues, which was only two days later and four days ago. You pay $XX for a car sold as new from a supposedly reputable dealer and it really shouldn't be buyer responsibility to inspect every square inch of the car. I've still got some leverage with prepaying my loan so the dealership loses the BMW loyalty monies, but I shouldn't have to go there to get satisfaction.

I'd be very surprised if BMW paints the trunk with the spoiler in place, even at the VPC center. I'm no expert on the process BMW undertakes at the VPC, but after watching a video or two I'm virtually certain they would remove the spoiler and reinstall after the repaint. If nothing else, it would be easier than taping it off, buffing around it, etc.

The only other thing that comes to mind is they could have painted the spoiler with the molding tape attached to prevent bonding issues with the tape. But again unlikely.

Can someone snap a picture of theirs and see if the edges of the tape are tape color or painted?

This might be a question for the carbon fiber spoiler thread in the cosmetic section. Trunk is painted under but maybe you can ask them to check bottom of removed spoiler.

Mine new spoiler is in at the end of the week so I should get it installed soon and. Can let you know once I do

My car is black so everything back there looks black

I have BSM. I looked at it last night and the sides of the tape appear to be black.

Mine is BGM and I don't see any overspray but it looks like clear tape to me and it looks like the tape is in sections with gaps.
