Look, honey! It followed me home. Can I keep it!!?!

Went for a tandem ride with The Wife. She has the new Golf R and I took the M240. We took a quick ride (30 miles or so) mixed with highway and back roads. Then swapped. Loved the look of my M240 as let her pass and followed her. The back looks good and the tint really seals the deal. Really like the look of the tail lights in red and shape looks cool. The spoiler is subtle but noticeable. Like the stance of the M240 and if the stance gets widened a bit more For the M2 it will be gorgeous. Wheels in black and blue calipers contrasts looks bangin'. The Alpine White is killer. The R is Lapiz Blue. Looks sick too. Wish I had the shadowline black mirrors and front trim treatment on the M240 but oh well. M240 is a bit quicker than the R which is to be expected although she said she could feel the weight. M240 is more immediate when getting on the throttle. The Wife noticed this immediately when I gunned it in the R and she was following me. I could see her not having any trouble gaining on me. It was the opposite when she was behind me in the R. On one sharp turn on to a back road she said the car did a bit of oversteer and 'corrected' her. Prolly the RWD biased vs the Rs tendency to understeer.

Main differences I noted: M240 hides its weight well though it is noticeable especially when braking. Brakes are better on the R. Whether it's weight (400 lbs less or so on the R) or the brakes or a little of both I don't know. M240 is smoother and has much less road noise even with the runflats. I'd describe the ride as posh in the M240 compared to the R. Felt like the M240 soaked up the bumps better than the R. Less jarring on the spin. Seats are better in the R (I have the standard seats in my M240). Sound of the exhaust in the cabin of the M240 sounded better to me than the R (R in race mode and M240 in Sport+). Both have piped in sound.

Felt that the R was a little 'boyracer' feeling which is surprising as I consider the STI and Civic R more so. I think either car is a winner but she prefers her R. I'll take the M240.

I was considering the R too, but decided on the M240 mainly due to knobs, don't like an all touch screen. My wife has a CR-V and hate the A/C controls touch screen. Weight was a factor for me too, just have to see how this works on the track. I have notice that owners complain about the brakes. Need great brakes on the track. Wonder who has tracked there car. I bought this thing mainly to track. Mine will be Alpine White too. White is such a forgiving color, plus it is cooler in summer for the Texas heat.

Drove my Miata RF today. Got the Brembo upgrade package. Brakes are fabulous. I know totally different car segment. But still the feel is on point. I would say tracking the M240 as stock you would experience problems trying to brake hard and late. Do you have the upgraded wheels/cooling package? That might help. Still not sure if brakes get upgraded with that package. But anything would help. Perhaps a fluid/pad upgrade would help. I won't be doing any upgrades as I plan to trade this in for the G87 M2 Comp. Figure that will have upgraded brakes….

I did get the upgraded wheels and cooling and I do plan on racing brake pads, most likely the Raybestos racing pads. I used them on my other track car before Hurricane Harvey took it. It was an 06 Civic Si with a blower and suspension upgrade.

I think you may be fine then. You'll have to let me know what you think of your brakes when you get em broken in.
