Photos of Thundernight Paint on Delivery and After Correction and Coating

Hello Everyone,

I have really benefitted from all of the content here while waiting 4 months for my M240i. I wanted to give back and share what it was like to get a Thundernight Metallic car, correct the paint myself, and then ceramic coat it myself.

The entire process from delivery took about 14 hours. In the first photo I will show how bad the paint looked on arrival. It seems it went through a sand storm or something and then was detailed as the entire car was scratched and every crevice had sand in it.

I took it home and washed it, debadged it, full clay bar + lubricant, full cutting polish, IPA rinse to remove any remaining waxes/sealants, and then ceramic coated it with 2 layers.

The remaining photos are 24 hours after coating taken today.

Can barely notice the difference.

Jk, looks freakin awesome. Do you have any pics of it in full sunlight?

The first three photos are direct sunlight, you can tell from the shadow. Depending on the angle the photo is taken the car can look vastly different. It's a very dynamic color that's extremely hard to capture well.

Great pics. Once again, I'm forced to reconsider switching my build from PB to TN.

Thank you! I can still see some very light swirls in some areas, I would make sure to really take your time polishing it and definitely ceramic coat it as this paint is extremely sensitive.

Nice job, looks great !

If mine arrives like yours, I refuse the delivery and ask for the corrections (but I don't think the dealer would dare deliver it to me like that)

Enjoy !

Thanks, but in times like these unless it was physically damaged or missing an engine I wouldn't refuse delivery

Great job.Paint looks perfect after your detailing.Do you really think it was a sand storm.I guess that could happen with the Mexican plant being in the middle of a desert.

Thanks! Yeah every crevice that couldn't be reached easily seemed to have dry sand in it

That just adds to the "authenticity"😅😅

But seriously gorgeous car… your pictures alone are causing me to reconsider color too! I was set on the Tacora red interior and after seeing pictures of TN and the red interior with red calipers I was quite pleasantly surprised. TBD since my car won't be built until MY23 production starts😔

Thank you! Choosing is the most difficult part, but rest assured whatever you choose will be nice
