That's one thing about modern water based paints that drives me nuts (others being how soft and thin they are). There's just so much orange peel and it doesn't matter if it's a $25k vehicle or a $150k vehicle.

You should read the article. The paint is 100% chemically identical. The petroleum-based precursors are just sourced from biomass instead of fresh crude oil.

Kinda gives a new meaning to shitty paint job. The new vehicles I've seen seem to have excellent finish on them. Interestingly, some of the more economy brands of vehicles are being rated as having the best paint/finish. The finish on my '21 Miata is exceptional quality.

Exactly. I think it's pretty awesome, and definitely not a bad/negative thing for BMW
