If you purchased the remote start package from BMW on your key fob the BMW logo hit that three times it should start the car after five seconds. I don't know if you need to have purchased the remote start to use it on the app however

you need to enable the feature, if I recall correctly, in the air conditioning menu

As long as its part of the package you can:

• Use remote as above
• Use Start Climatize your car icon in-app
• Use Climate control timer- this way you can tell the car when you are planing to leave and its starts approx 15 mins before departure.
• on the head unit you can do 3 timer starts options.
