Doc fee & Non tax fees

Are these negotiable/eliminate-able?

My dealer is hitting me with a $454 "doc fee" and $639.28 "non tax fees".

Not a deal breaker for sure, but it is an extra G on the bottom line.

Usually not. Doc fees have been around for a while. Some states cap them. Many dealers now have KTLO / ad fees, which is what your non tax one sounds like

I believe they are in most cases? Depends on what they go toward.

I am buying in NJ and the dealer is hitting me with an $800 doc fee as well as a $400 window etching fee; both were roughly half that back in 2018. Neither are negotiable, but I did get them to knock some money off MSRP.

In the past, I've always been able to get the dealer to pay the title, registration, and doc fees, and I'd eat the tax.

This is the first time around they aren't doing that, but I think all in my fees are under $400.

Of course they are (partly) negotiable, and of course a dealer will tell you they are non negotiable. Find another dealer.

I paid a total of $269.00 which included $113 title fee (which is perhaps the only non-negotiable fee as it's set by the DMV), Doc fee of $100 (this is for the dealer to process the paperwork), electronic filing fee of $50 (not sure if this is a DMV required?) and Transfer fee of $6.00(plate transfer fee...that also would be a non-negotiable DMV fee). Anyway required fees set by DMV will vary by State. Consider anything other than DMV fees to be negotiable.

Have your dealer specifically break down those fees so you can see what they are charging you that is DMV required and what they are charging you just so they can pocket extra $$. When i car shopped for the best price I also specifically asks about all dealer doc fees and made that part of my decision.

Eh, not worth shopping around at this point over a few hundred bucks. I'm down to hopefully one month til delivery. Just frustrating paying BMW prices and still getting shafted on misc fees

my m240 is about to arrive at the dealership and hopefully I don't get screwed on the extra fees. the only upside is that I got a 1k discount from MSRP but it will probably be nullified with the licensing fees etc, if they don't add a ton of extra BS on top lol

Are you all not getting your quotes with all the fees added?

I asked for my bottom line a while ago, to get through possible bs ahead of time. Car is priced at MSRP with these dumb fees on top, and tax of course.
