So I decided to install the M Performance Carbon Fibre Interior in my 2022 M240i G42 and did a quick installation video for anyone looking to do the upgrade themselves.

Hi Slingray
Thanks for the video, gotta say this is one of the most calmed, well filmed, edited video I've seen about a DIY in quite some time. Just bookmarked it, since i'm considering to do this change of trims in the mid term. |

Thank you mate, much appreciated I wanted to ensure it was useful for someone looking to perform the medication without doing any damage to their beautiful BMW interior in the process. Hope it helps!

Slingray I'm trying to order this kit for my AU M240ix and the parts guy is very nice but a bit clueless lol. Can you confirm the part number? Looking at the M340ix on RealOEM I believe I should be ordering: 51952466892.

Great video ad thanks for sharing. Are you able to say if the strip in the passenger side section is removable from the rest of the trim?

![]() Just trying to rule in or out hydro dipping I've done a Stek PPF Dynagloss carbon on these parts and it looks good except the tetragon pattern comes through slightly. I think that part in total would be a bit long for hydro dipping and need a lot of masking. Probably easier to do it the expensive way the first time ![]() |

I disconnected the battery before fitting the dash trim since there are a bunch of electronics in it for the ventilation controls. Now I have a warning for park assist being unavailable. Do I have to carry out some sort of reset due to the loss of power, or am I booking the car in to have it investigated? ![]() Edit the parking sensor error was very simple To fix, the steering needed recalibration. Turn the wheel full lock left, then right and it will give a little "nudge", centre the steering and all good again ![]() |

Looks great! Big improvement. Don't even notice the area for the lighting. Glad you got the issue with the parking sensors sorted. The other option if you ever have rogue errors codes is to use an app like BimmerCode (which clears errors after a code) or if the error code is a bit stubborn BimmerLink should sort it. There's so many sensors in these modern car's, it's easy for them to get themselves a bit out of whack and throw a code without there being an actual underlying issue. Congrats on the install, the CF looks great. |

Cheers! Good tip on using Bimmercode to check or clear errors, hopefully I would get something more senslbe than the idrive error message.
The CF install was a breeze thanks to your excellent tutorial video ![]() |

Your choice of carbon is the best way to go, after trying wrapping with Stek PPF and the considering carbon stick on parts I pulled the trigger on this kit and it arrived today (along with some sensational paddleshifters). The finish of the product is better than anything Iv'e seen before and am looking forward to doing the install. Did you fit the small strip behind the compartment door? I'm assuming its a push in and lift the retaining clips. The paddleshifters were about as good as they can get quality wise, they are a nice billet finish and looks like the PCB mounting plate is cast rather than the stock plastic I'll include a pic here and write the installed paddles up in another post.We were chatting about these, they are expensive but worth every dollar from what I can see so far of the product Also the vendor you mentioned, Szab at Paddleshifterz dot com could not have been more helpful or enthusiastic. Service was first class Stock paddle included for comparison Like the old saying "what will it be the scotch you'd rather drink or the scotch you would rather pay for" It's certainly the case here Last edited by DaveDee; 07-19-2022 at 07:50 AM.. Looks great Dave. - I did fit the small strip behind the compartment door and yes to memory you're correct, it was just 2 or 4 small clips holding it in place, it wasn't as tight to get to as it appeared it would. I might of used a trip tool to pop the original out if I recall. |
