AMG GT 53 review (with pro pics)
I'm back with more high-performance metal to review.
In this case it's actually medium performance. The AMG GT 53. I'd probably stick with the M850 or M8 in this case, but the Merc is really beautifully finished. https://machineswithsouls.com/2022/0...-gt-53-review/

Nice review and awesome pictures! The GT4D is a beautiful car in the flesh, my neighbor has one, although not in the gorgeous Brilliant Blue Magno of your tester and it has great presence on the road. Have only driven the 63, but I did own its sister car the CLS 53 for 3-years and I loved that car, a perfect gran tourer. I tried the M550 (no M850 at the time) and the V8 was great, but the chassis let me down, drove the M850 when it came out hoping for improvements but sadly didn't find any. The 53 engine really is a gem with the ISG + electrically driven supercharger, gives it a more naturally-aspirated feel in that it provides boost when the regular turbo is building power. I also agree on the steering feel and excellent start/stop system.
Keep up the great reviews! |

Nice review, I like the F1 references. These definitely have presence anytime I see them, especially in that matte blue. Massive car though, looks chunky and boaty.

Wife gave me a Turo rental day for Father's day. Considering a tuned 2016 AMG GT we found in the local area. Current choices are an auto Supra, an auto C8 Vette, and an auto Porsche Cayman.

If it's a C8, I'd go vette.

It is a C8 Vette, but I'm not a big Vette person, and it's somewhat difficult to see myself walking away from a tuned twin-turbo V8 to an NA V8. I'm no stranger to FI or NA and know the pros and cons of both.
They both have advantages. They both sound great. Both would be fast. Both would be fun. Mid-engine is dope. The removable roof puts a point in the C8s favor. It's a tough decision for sure. I wish I could find someone who owned both and see which one they kept. |

I have been considering getting the GT53 or a new M850i Gran Coupe.......
What are your guys' thoughts on the GT53 versus the M850i? As someone who has owned past AMG's.....I just always thought of these cars (53 models) and GT43 models as fake AMG's (I feel Mercedes is a little more aggressive with their AMG branding than even BMW). I do like how the AMG GT looks, though....it's definitely a bit more rare than the 8 series. I just feel the 53 is a little slow for the AMG name (relatively) whereas BMW's M-performance models are still really fast (3.5 I believe on the 0-60 for the M850i). I think the 53 comes in at like 4.1.......which is barely faster than my 2013 CLS550 I had 10 years ago (which I think was 4.2). Are the AMG GT models reliable? I also don't love how dead the AMG GT forums are.....I just don't want to be caught in the middle of nowhere, per se, if I have a question about the car after buying it. The 8 series forum here is more lively for sure.

I said it in your thread about another AMG 53 (forget what it was, maybe a CLS?) but the Benz 53 models are an embarrassment. They are way, way too slow for where in the product stack they sit.
