I had never done autocross or any other event on a track until today.
A couple of buddies at the office convinced me to go for a run with the Porsche Club of America at an event called "Dancing with Cones". This was an autocross at Pikes Peak International Raceway (parking lot).



My setup was a stock 2022 BMW M240i xDrive, I drove all 6 runs with all safety off, full Sport+, TRACTION, "D" mode (except for my 5th run in "M" mode).

Most likely the heaviest car out there (at a curb weight of 3871lbs). The next closest in CW was probably the 2018 M2 (at 3450lbs?) but his best time was 114.129s.

Here is my fastest run, no cones, and finished in 108.907sec:

it looked like there were quite a few tight turns; how did the car feel when going through the tight turns? I'm also curious what times the Porsches ran

Congrats on your first AX! Always a fun time. I'm sure you really learned a lot about the car and hopefully you didn't kill any cones Can't wait to get mine out there to do the same.

PS - tricky opening with that hairpin...!

Most of the field was Porsches, only 5 were not. Those included myself, a 2018 BMW M2 who placed 23rd overall, a 2002 Mazda Miada who placed 17th (only about 0.55s in front of me), a 1993 Ford Mustang who placed 3rd and 27th (two drivers), and my buddy in a 2012 Mini Cooper JCW who placed 2nd overall. The winner was a Porsche racing instructor in a 911 GT3 (fast!).

In general the car felt good, a little lag on the turbo out of the corners but I may be able to help that by getting on the gas a little earlier. The breaks were good (no surprise w the upgraded package) and generally it took the corners well. I even had the rear end wagging a little, which is nice for an AWD!

Thanks! Ya, that starting corner was tight. Another at the end of the back strait (I drove through those cones 5 of 6 times).

Nicely done! Autox it's what I plan on doing a lot of with my 240 when it finally arrives. What were some of the other times on the cars there?
