Yeah, I looked at my finance paperwork and the VIP deal was the following:

Cash Deal: Maximum $3K off
Finance Deal: Maximum $1,500 off

Not all cars were eligible for the max discount, so I was only able to get $1,000 of the $1,500 off via finance (not the $500 that I claimed earlier). This was tier 1 financing at 1.9% APR back in January.

I understand that selling/manufacturing in volume makes/saves money but so does a limited supply.

I'm far from an economist. What is the advantage to the manufacturer in going back to 2018-2019 inventory levels?

Maybe this will become a new aspect of manufacturers competing with each other... Who can deliver the ordered car sooner.

Is this good enough to "lock in" that price so the dealer can't try to increase it later? Do I need something with an actual signature on it?
Just an update. I spoke with another SA at the dealer and he sent me a "Purchase Information" document, which specifies the exact fees I'll be paying (MSRP) along with all the taxes, registration fees, etc. So I think I'm good now!

Sign up for BMWCCA 6 months. It costs $159 for three years and you can apply for a $500 rebate after six months netting you $341. I'm not sure if you have to be signed up before you order

Here are the restrictions around the rebate these days:

Quote:
A membership requirement may be met in one of two ways:

A membership of one year (365 days) or more immediately preceding the delivery date of the vehicle is required to take advantage of this program. A member in good standing cannot have any lapse in membership during that 12-month period.

A non-refundable membership of three or more years can be purchased to reduce the 12-month waiting period to 6 months.

Looks like ya need it at least 6 months prior to DELIVERY (if a 3 year membership).

Complete your application within 60 days of the date of delivery.

Gotcha. Well it'll work for me. I currently have the Audi version and it's worth the price. A magazine each month and discounts on the major vendors I'd use anyway.
