The Audi RS3 is getting very good reviews and seems like a great effort from Audi. And a few reviewers are comparing the RS3 to BMW’s M240i.
IMO that is a false comparison. The RS3’s base price is $10,000 more than the base price of the M240i and the RS3 is the top performance offering in Audi’s 3 series lineup while the M240i is the mid-performance offering in BMW’s 2 series lineup. BMW will have a new M2 out in a few months. The closer and better comparison would be the BMW M240i versus the Audi S5 coupe. Both are mid-grade, 2-door, performance coupes. Bob |

Aside from the extra rear space and engine noise, I see no reason the anyone should get an RS3 over a M240i or M2 for the $ (especially the xdrive models that compete more directly in all climates). |

I agree, my original budget was $50k but realizing I'm getting a solid 400+ hp AWD daily driver with B58 reliability, I decided to go for it fully optioned. It didn't take me long to pick the M240 with what else is out there -- it was up against the Audi S3, new Nissan Z, or F80 M3.
