Correcting our Piano black exterior pieces (not so bad)

I am breaking this out from another thread where the piano black was discussed. I mentioned in the other thread I was going to try some Sonax Perfect Finish with a microfiber. That worked halfway..

Specifically, I initially tried with a Chemical Guys MF to apply and remove the polish (along with some IPA) and while it did remove some of the scratches, it left a haze. Then I used a Lake Country CCS red wax applicator and a Rag Company purple Eaglet to remove the polish. It took 2 passes and less than 5 minutes to get > 80% correction on about a 4-6" section on the grill - again with a hand applicator. It will probably go much faster and easier with a RO polisher and a 3" or 4" pad. I will be doing the rest this weekend along with a full detail.

I am thinking any finishing polish with a fine foam applicator and ultra soft MF will do the job. YMMV

Does anyone have any info on whether it is possible to repaint the black side skirts in body color?

Painting rocker panels and rear defuser

I have thought of that as well...or wrapping them with matching cerium(sp) gray color to match my mirror caps and parts on the front end. Or a shade of silver Would also wrap the small stock spoiler to match. Just thinking. Plan to have car ceramic coated after I take possession. Ordered first week of March. Status is schedule for production. Genius email reply stated approx. prod date 9/5/22. I am hoping to take pos. end of October?? I hope.

But after thinking on the cost I decided against, so I may try machine polishing them this weekend. Stand by

There was a 4" scuff on the gloss black trim below the door when I arrived at the dealership to pick up the car. I'm sure it was from the rubber on someone's shoe that was prepping the car for delivery.

I left it, forgot about it, and haven't noticed it now for about 2 weeks.

Just got my car back from detailer. Got full front PPF, rockers, and rear bumper/diffuser and full ceramic. I don't have any before pics but we all know what swirls look like and how easily these piano black pieces scratch and even get etched/water spots (detailer said they were getting more swirls just looking at them). Check out the piano black trim on the front in these pics.
