Coasting

Is there any technical reason that BMW only allows you to engage coasting in eco-pro mode?

This is my first automatic and I’m getting used to it but it’s still really annoying to feel the car lunging around as it downshifts while slowing down

Is this really that noticeable?? My current car jerks terribly when downshifting (Chevy, automatic) when braking and I hate it!! I really hope BMW is not like this…?

I did notice downshifts a little bit on my test drive in Comfort, but I drove that car immediately after it was unloaded from the truck so it was literally brand new. Maybe the trans will learn and adapt over time?

I assume it’s better than a Chevy but it’s noticeable. It’d be nice if you could disengage the transmission and just coast to a stop when needed.
