930Nm (686 ft-lbs) to tighten, up to 1,600 NM (1,180 ft-lbs) to break free. You also need a torque wrench capable of tightening it and a breaker bar long enough to loosen it. Even then this thing will be a PIA to put on and remove with those insane torque figures.

Meanwhile the G80/2/7 all have floating calipers in the rear which means to swap out the rear pads you need to take the rear caliper completely off. I wish BMW spent their $$$ developing fixed rear calipers instead of this.

Did you notice the subject at the beginning of the FB post? Special Tools for the Central Locking Screw. They have their own part nos.

I did, that's where I'm quoting the torque figures from.

I think it is cool but can also be a pain. What is you need AAA? Would they have the tools to help you out? Are we as owners (prospective) expected to own these tools to change our wheels? What about going to our mechanics and not the dealership...would our mechanics have these tools? I would think the mechanics would but what about the other scenarios?

Looks cool but may be more trouble than its worth.

Gad you're excited for this. I'm not sure why my comments would surprise anyone.

I've worked on cars my whole life, when you get into the 100's of ft-lbs to torque something it's no joke. Even with the right tools it takes a monstrous amount of leverage and effort. You can seriously get hurt if you're not careful. I only see this being useful if you're in a race where you go through multiple sets of tires. Most people that track their cars don't. They will however swap out wheels and/or brake pads before getting on track. The added time to change out your wheels is not an issue since you're not in the middle of a race yet. Having to remove the rear caliper just to change pads takes longer than swapping all four wheels.

Probably good points. Too soon for me to be practical.

So center-lock wheels as an option? They look cool but like Tag said, on a street car they're a PITA... just ask the Porsche folks.

I had centre locks on my 991.2 911 GTS and they are a pain in the ass, I had a few flats or a few track days and when they needed to come off you needed one hell of a breaker bar!

While not speaking to their practicality; a center lock setup (wheel, hub, hardware) will be lighter.

This is super cool looking option that I would instantly skip. I've seen people changing center lock wheels and its not worth it imo
